I joined Tembo Sacco in 2016 with an aim of saving money for myself and my son as a single mother. In 2018 I needed to go back to school and the course which I wanted to do was offered in a different style than the one that was offered in South Africa. After multiple applications in 2017, I applied again in 2018 January and awaited the feedback. In July 2018, I got the news that I have been accepted and I needed to report I September. I never knew how I will handle the travel, fee and living expenses down in South but I told myself I need to do it since opportunity comes ones.
I then realized I have been saving with Tembo and I can borrow a loan to invest on my studies since I had limited time. I had never borrowed loan before because I was always afraid to have a debt somewhere but this forced me too since I was in dire need and approaching people and they give you the word “Pole sina kitu” was demoralizing but I did understand. Tembo helped me out until I fiished my 1 year course in South Africa studying FIFA/CIES Executive Course in Sports Management.
I remember a certain period where I was in South Africa and could not access my bank account, I emailed my situation to Tembo, and asked them to transfer cash to my Safaricom line so that atleast I can work around it and they were very patient with me and helped me out since I had no cash with me in a foreign land. I believe if not for God, my family, my Job at Tusker and Tembo Sacco I would not have finalized my studies and that’s why I am still saving and looking forward to open a juniors account for my son at Tembo. Their slogan with you all the way actually worked with me and am grateful.
