I have been a member of Tembo Sacco since I joined the company in the year 2012. I was attracted to the Sacco after I heard inspiring stories from my colleagues. Staff from Tembo also came to the site and interacted with us during the induction process and took us through the benefits of being a member, the joining process and some of their exciting products.

My name is Louis Muiruri, working with KBL in the Governance Department as the Risk Manager.

I have been a member of Tembo Sacco since I joined the company in the year 2012. I was attracted to the Sacco after I heard inspiring stories from my colleagues. Staff from Tembo also came to the site and interacted with us during the induction process and took us through the benefits of being a member, the joining process and some of their exciting products.

I was hooked on the spot. I was coming from another organization where I had been active and through a loan that I was advanced, I managed to build a house for my mother among other personal development initiatives. I therefore knew the power of saccos in transforming lives.

I started off at Tembo Sacco with a modest monthly saving, but I quickly adjusted it upwards when I realized the joy and satisfaction of watching my savings grow month by month. I was also cognizant of the fact that the more I saved, the more I qualified for a bigger loan which is normally a multiple of ones savings. What I also liked was the flexibility in adjusting the monthly deductions based on my financial standing. That way I could flex my deductions based on the weight of other commitments on my payslip.

I did not take my first loan until the year 2016 where I bought a piece of land. I took another loan in early 2017 where I invested in a business venture. Buoyed by the success of these initial loans, in 2018 I took another bigger loan where I started developing the land and building a residential house. The project took me 11 months to complete. Tembo Sacco supported me immensely during this process. I remember the initial development loan was approved so fast that the money landed in my account long before I could even get the building plans! Tembo Sacco continued to support me along the journey as I had to top up the loan when the initial amount ran out before doing the finishing. I also borrowed against my dividends in 2019 and used the money to do the final touches.I finally entered the house in December 2019.

I owe it to Tembo Sacco for coming through for me in order to make the project a success and making my dream of owning my own home come true.
